Calibration weight Guide

With a calibration or an adjustment weight, fine scales are calibrated at regular intervals. This process is extremely important because otherwise the scales will not give correct results. The calibration weights are offered commercially in different versions (weights). There are weights for fine scales, gold scales and digital pocket scales. The calibration must be carried out with a correct weight.

Thus, scales are calibrated with an adjustment weight

The calibration of a balance is an important process and will be with a suitable one calibration carried out. After switching on the balance, the corresponding key is pressed and then the weight is placed on it. This scale takes the weight as a reference for all future measurements and provides accurate results again. How many times microbalancecalibration depends mainly on the frequency of use. The calibration should definitely be kept and found quickly. After each change of location, the balance should be recalibrated with the weight, as the gravity of the new location may affect the results. There are many different calibration weights in the trade. Before a certain weight is purchased, the buyers should first inform themselves about the offered variants.

Which calibration weights are sold in the trade?

In general, buyers have the choice between individual calibration weights and sets consisting of several weights. The individual weights are available in different sizes or in different designs commercially. The calibration weights typically have 50 grams, 100 grams, 200 grams and 500 grams. The sets are cheaper compared to buying single weights and consist of a large number of weights. There are, among others, calibration weights sets of 17 weights between 10 grams and 100 grams and sets of higher weights. Most products are made of iron or steel and have a slight variation from 0.001 grams to 0.003 grams. Single weights are offered in the trade at low prices of less than 10 euros, while sets logically cost significantly more money. There is a practical addition to the individual calibration weights in a set storage boxfor the weights. The prices of the individual weights depend mainly on the materials used and on the size. The heavier the weight, the higher the price.

What must buyers pay attention to?

What kind of calibration depends mainly on the balance used. Before buying, the buyers should inform themselves exactly and consult the instructions of their balance. Most cars require weights of 100 grams or 200 grams. For a single scale is enough calibration usually off. Only if several scales are used, several weights are required. The larger sets are more interesting for laboratories, universities and similar institutions. The most important criteria when purchasing a calibration weight include material, design (weight), and deviation (accuracy). The smaller the deviation, the more precisely the balance can be calibrated. The respective weight should be suitable for the scale (fine scale, gold scale or digital scale).

Especially visually appealing weights are made of high quality carbon steel. They have a chrome finish and look very elegant. Calibration weights with a chrome finish cost more than weights of stainless steel or iron in direct comparison. The RunFa calibration weight for digital scales is an inexpensive set. This consists of a total of 6 weights of 5 grams, 10 grams, 20 grams, 50 grams and 100 grams. The calibration weights make a high-quality impression and are suitable for all scales including the beam scales.
